Hello everyone!
After lurking around for a while, I decided to finally make an account here and show off my own handcrafted map. :)
For some reason I tend to take this old game out atleast once every year. - I guess you know this feeling, heh.
I hope you will have alot of fun playing this mission just as much as I do!

SCHARUHEN
You will build and defend a Metropolis in a very beautiful environment located at the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
Naturally, in order to emphasize the supremacy of your Great City, you will build not one - but two large Pyramids which will attract travelers from across the known world and even further Beyond. Additionally, you will oversee the construction of a large Obelisk which will contain tales of this great City and make them last for Eternity.
In order to realize this dashing Project, the coast offers you three large masses of fertile land surrounded by ore-rich mountains which will provide all necessary ressources.
Impressed by your ambitious Project and jealous of this raw diamond of land, the Great Persian Empire has declared to contest ownerhsip of this very land in order to construct their own Metropolis. They will untiringly throw wave after wave of their best and most ferocious Warriors at your Defenses from land and from the sea - Be ready when they come!
... Many neighbouring countries are willing to support your Venture and are ready to start Trade immediately.
From time to time they will request certain Goods - Satisfying those may eventually be rewarded generously.

Nice to know:
The invasions will keep you busy atleast 100 years for now, while demands will currently occur only in the first 50 years.
You may or may not struggle with the Persian Armies so I recommend building your forts and ships quite soon.
The first waves will be easy but their number will grow over time.
Feel free to disable the winning conditions and play to your hearts content - like i do ^^

Once again I wish you much Fun with this map!

UPDATE NEWS (03.2022)
Cheers everyone,
First of all I'm happy that this map is being so well received.
With the remake likely to happen this year I want to give you guys a little heads up that I am going to convert this map over to ANE as soon as possible and depending on how good the editor will be, spice things up a little and fix some bugs like with the zoo.
As of now I already have 2 or 3 ideas in mind for other, new maps.
At this point I am just waiting for the Remake to launch :)

UPDATE NEWS (10.2023)
Hello again,
the map-editor for P:ANE is finally out and I am currently converting this map.
Since its essentially a "new" game, the files are different as well and so I have to redo the entire thing from scratch and cant just copy+paste it.
You will find a link to the map here.
Thanks for your patience :) |

Playability: 4
All win conditions are achievable except culture 75, as you do not have access to resources for the zoo. Thus, "winning" this mission was assumed culture 70
Balance: 4
The win conditions are lengthy and difficult for some but not overbearing. Wars are frequent but laughable with access to charioteers. Starting funds are a generous 10k with funding never being an issue due to multiple export opportunities. Requests are far and in between with ample time to comply or no real penalty for not doing so. Overall, this mission could have been more difficult by limiting trade route opportunities or making wars more difficult. It needed to be a bit harder in order to earn a perfect balance score of 5.
Creativity: 3
As said before, events are bland and do not pose much creativity or challenge. At least, the reoccurring wars match the theme in the description. Could have scored higher with more diverse and game altering decisions
Map Design: 5
Gorgeous map which ties into the mission description. Gold standard as far as custom maps go with regard to attention to detail, layout, and uniqueness.
Story/Instructions: 5
Gives me a reason to care, be involved in the events of the mission. Well done
Additional Comments:
I played on normal difficulty. It took me about 60 in game years (5-6 hours) to complete this mission. I had fun but not sure if worth playing again
