Did you survive the desert?
March 31, 2000 3:41 PM EST

Last call for those of you that are playing in the Desert Survival contest and haven’t mailed your submission to Cherub Baltic. The contest will finish tonight, which leaves you with some 12 hours to finish it and mail it.

There’s some news about the upcoming contest, which should start April 7th. It involves a scenario from SenetEr and goes by the name of Secret Mission.
You can follow the link for more details.

New Strat Articles
March 31, 2000 7:18 AM EST

I’ve just added a coupleof strategy-related things sent to me by Octavian II to the Strategy Section. There’s 1 new bit on the Military Numbers page, and a new housing block in the (wait for it…this’ll surprise you ;)) Housing Blocks section.

Both are spreadsheets in MS Excel 4.0 format.

Search Feature Back
March 30, 2000 9:08 AM EST

WHile looking at this page a few days ago, I noticed that the search feature which resides at the bottom had disappeared. I checked in with BeSeen, who provide it, and their site was down.

However, it looks like it’s back up and working again now. Sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused during the outage :(.

How long does it take to build a monument?
March 29, 2000 4:00 PM EST

This question is asked by Antagonistix. Th ethread has some general notes on monument building, so if you’ve just arrived on our forums…why not make a visit?

Another nice thread with lots of general info is the Rating Game. it contains all, if not more than, you ever wanted to know about manipulating your Kingdom rating.

The original thread on ideas for the Phara-O-Lympics has emerged again from the quite waters of the Competition Forum. I think the Competition board will be quite happy to get some more input.

Treasure Chest Cheat
March 29, 2000 4:21 AM EST

Here’s a post I spotted over on the official forum which deals with why some of you haven’t been able to get the “Treasure Chest” cheat to function properly:

How much money did you start the mission with? If memory serves, this cheat will only add to your vaults if you have less than 15,000 Deben.

That came via Nutheninkamhen.

Lions vs. Rams
March 28, 2000 3:19 PM EST

Nope, we’re not talking American football here, but I’m referring to a little controversy about what that large statue actually depicts. Now I don’t want to say this just to brag, but when I visited Luxor a couple of years ago it was quite obvious they were rams, not lions.
You can find a few more image here.

There’s an interesting question, possibly triggered by the Men-Aten contest, on how long walker coverage lasts.

When uploading files…
March 27, 2000 3:06 PM EST

I’ve had a request from Angel Draco regarding the upload of files to the Pharaoh Download section.

When submitting your file, a “City” is a Map that you have played to completion. A “Scenario” is a Blank Map, that you have created yourself using the Mission Editor, that you would like other people to play.

Thank you.

There’s news from the Competition Forum too. The results for Men-aten are:

Expert Players: JWorth in 29 months
Novice Players: Homegrown in 203 months

You can find the runner’s up here.

Cookie, Cookie, lend me your comb
March 26, 2000 9:16 AM EST

Following close on the heels of the other housing blocks, Homegrown put up a string or comb-block. You can find it here.

There’s a resurgence of posts on the “How to get rid of your Old Age Pensioners?” subject. One suggestion is to dispatch them to the Fields of Reeds before their time has come.
I wonder, if you follow this strategy, what Ma’at will say when the time comes to weigh your heart…

There’s also a small discussion started on the exact way to calculate your yearly tribute to Pharaoh. It seems virtually identical to the way it was done for Caesar 3.
You can find it here, but you have to scroll down a bit.

Housing blocks galore
March 25, 2000 5:27 PM EST

There’s a whole flock of housing block posts in the current Game Help forum. There’s a concentric one from Moquel, another concentric one by Nerdicus and the SenetEr one is also still in the top 20 posts.

The Senet House is hosting a thread that is asking you why people stray from the subject in the thread header…the answers are many, but not always to the point

Last call for Men-Aten
March 24, 2000 2:36 PM EST

Cherub Baltic asked me to remind you all that today is the last day you can submit your attempt at the Men-aten scenario. For more information on this event, check this link.

There’s two discussions going on about the problems you can get with odd lots of goods in your storage yards. One is mainly about barley and flax the other is more concerned with the effects this has on your trade.

Last but not least there’s a
desirability study going on with input from one our resident number crunchers.

We Need Comments!
March 24, 2000 1:51 AM EST

If you’ve downloaded a scenario from our downloads section and played it, please give us your comments. Click the “desc” link next to the scenario you want to review, and then the “Submit a Player Comment” link at the bottom of the page.

The chaps who design the scenarios really need to know what you think about what they’ve done so far in order to produce some even better ones in the future.

As a side note, Cherub Baltic has made a winnable version of the “Holy Grail” scenario that came with the Enhancement Pack (this one has a second luxury good). That is in the downloads section too :).

Edit: Didn’t see A. Jay’s plea for the same thing 1 post below – hey, if both of us are asking, pretty please..?

Angel Reckless Rodent

Have you played my scenario?
March 23, 2000 3:54 PM EST

Ok, so it isn’t my scenario I’m talking about, but there are several people in the Scenario Forum that have counted the downloads and are wondering whether people liked their effort.
Please give them some feedback?
You would want some feedback if it were you’re scenarios, wouldn’t you?

Cherub SenetEr has put up a little post describing who you too can make a SenetEr housing block. It’s intended for those that have only recently joined us (and missed the original discussion) but there may be something in there for those not so new to the site.

March 22, 2000 4:55 PM EST

This is yanked straight from Angel Draco’s domain:

Three exciting new features have been added to the Downloads Section! You can now submit your submissions directly to the site using our Submissions Uploader. Click on the “Submit a File” link at the top of this page to try it out!
The Downloads Search function is also up and running. Use the link at the very top of this page to give it whirl!

Finally, we have posted several Mission Editor Design Articles for you to read. We’re always looking to expand our library of knowledge so write an article yourself and send it in!

Do you know the way to Sawu?
March 22, 2000 3:46 PM EST

Well, this may not be about the way to Sawu, but it is meant to help you with Sawu. Cherub Baltic has started a thread with some pointers on this coastal city, rich in ore and hyenas.
It got some interesting reactions from, amongst others, Vriesea, Grumpus the Elder and ToutEnCarton.
It was also the post with which said Baltic reached the exalted heights of the Millenium Club.

Ever sat down before you started a city and drew the whole layout on graph paper before building a single shack? Well, you’re not alone, it seems there’s quite a few people that start their scenarios this way.

The Holy Grail
March 20, 2000 4:28 PM EST

No, not the one that was found by Parsifal, but the scenario that came with the Enhancement Pack. It seems to have kicked up some desert dust to say the least. This thread contains some inside knowledge. Be warned, it also contains some great revelations…maybe it is the same grail after all?

There is also a rather extended post on the whereabouts of the lowly cartpusher. This little chappy seems to be up to some strange things in his spare time.

$19.99 Reminder
March 20, 2000 3:27 PM EST

I posted something about this a week or so ago, but I thought I might as well give you all the heads up on it once again in case we have some new visitors :).

BestBuy is selling Pharaoh for $29.99, but there’s a $10 manufacturer’s rebate slip included in the box, meaning you can end up with Pharaoh for a measly $19.99.

Thanks to Angel Draco and Gone Gold for the simultaneous notification :).

Email Woes

Just a quick message to let anyone who has something urgent they want me to deal with know that they should direct it in the direction of this email address. My normal email provider seems to be having some more trials and tribulations. Last time a conflict with AOL was the cause, but it was sorted after a few (albeit rather frustrating) days.

Here’s hoping it’ll get solved speedily again.

Strange weather
March 19, 2000 12:31 PM EST

Almost as sunny as in Egyp, but a lot closer to freezing than it ever gets along the river Nile.

The Scenario forum is asking some trick questions about chariots.

Local Yokel offers a simple trick to help speed up your water trade. You can find it here.

Then there’s some thoughts on why monuments do not give a desirablility boost. Some of the suggestions here are highly…original.

Last but not least the Sawu Hyena has moved away from the hyena reservations to the pors and cons of ostrich farming.

Third Contest Scenario: Desert Survival.
March 18, 2000 3:54 PM EST

Presenting a scenario from Stringbags, the Competition Team offers you Desert Survival. The scenario comes in two flavours, Novice and Expert. Here’s the outline

Pharaoh has ordered you to establish a settlement near a small, nameless oasis. Because the times are hard, our troops are needed elsewhere and you have to survive without any defenses. No attacks are supposed, although Libyans could decide to drive you out of this region if you anger them.
Two packs of hyenas living in this small oasis are considered sacred animals, because they saved the life of Pharaoh’s son when he was kidnapped by enemies of the empire. Hyenas attacked the kidnappers when they tried to flee into Kush, but left Pharaoh’s son unharmed and he was soon saved by guards that were pursuing the traitors. Now, no one may do any harm to these hyenas, except policemen, who have the right to chase them away – but only if they kill people in city streets.
On the other hand, you don’t have to be afraid that people would stop coming because of hyenas – to be killed by them is considered a honorable death.

As you can see a story with a twist…

Angel Jayhawk

Can’t Get Started?
March 17, 2000 3:54 PM EST

If your cities in Pharaoh always have teething problems, then you might want to take a look at this strategy guide posted by C3 and Pharaoh veteran Grumpus the Elder on his Which Way To Thebes? site (well worth checking out, if you haven’t already done so).

Here’s a little snippet:

When I start a new city my immediate goals are that the city should be selling something by by the end of the first year and be solvent by the end of the second. I wrote this in one of the forums recently, and a reader was nice enough to e-mail me. The gist of his message was that I am full of crap, and that these goals are not practicable. I am frequently full of it, but in this case, I am on firm ground for a change.

To date I have played 20 missions in C3, and perhaps another dozen or so in Pharaoh. Most of the time I have met or exceeded these goals, so I’ve decided to write a little guide showing one way that this can be done. As always, I do not claim that this is the best, or the only way, but it works for me.

Mission Editing Tips

Angel Reckless Rodent

Instant pyramid anyone?
March 16, 2000 4:37 PM EST

There’s a wonderful story in the Scenario forum, by Impressions’ Ironrod concerning a cheat that will never be released.

While the game was in development, we had a cheat that allowed instant monument completion.

That cheat code can seriously destabilize the game. So dangerous was this cheat, in fact, that the programmers yanked it against the frightening prospect that some innocent might stumble upon the code. As much as players would’ve appreciated an auto-complete cheat for monuments, we could not release that genie into the world.

There’s an alternate method offered by Keith Heitmann in the same thread.

There’s an interesting discussion going on in the Game Help forum about the placement of recruiters, weaponsmiths and chariotmakers. You can find it here.

The award for most original thread title goes to Bulldg60 this month. His Something’s wrong with my Onions must have brought asmile (or grimace) to the face of most of us.

More giggling could be heard tonight all over the Pharaoh and Caesar 3 forums. Long term veteran of both games, Brugle has accepted the cherub green and feathers. He was last seen heading for his favourite haunt, the Game Help forum. I do hope he’ll drop by in the Senet House to see our best wishes.

I bid him a warm welcome and wish him well on both sides of the Mediterranean.

There’s a curious post on Game Help, by kabouter. He’s discovered some strange things about warship wharves. I’m not sure if I mentioned it before, but if I didn’t, you can find it here

Downloads Update
March 14, 2000 4:12 AM EST

Here’s what Angel Draco has posted on the main page of the downloads section:

I don’t see any Reviews of fan created Scenarios. If you’ve played a custom made map, please take a few moments to comment on it. Was it fun? Did it suck? Was it un-winnable? Any bugs? Inquiring Authors want to know! You can submit a comment on the map’s Desc. page.
10 new Cities added including several by our own Cherub SenetEr. Check out his Bahariya Oasis, our first submission of this map.

In the Custom Made Scenarios section, we have a great “sandbox” map by our own Angel Reckless Rodent called A Blank Cheque. Also check out Keith Heitmann’s Qadesh and Trevor Hall’s Island Village.

In the Misc. Section I’ve added some Egyptian Glyph Fonts for your computer. Have fun making your name in Hieroglyphics for you Forum Sigs!

Vote for Pharaoh!
March 13, 2000 5:00 PM EST

The Editor in Chief of RTS Domain sent me an email today with news that his site is holding a poll asking what the best Real Time Strategy game was in 1999. Pharaoh is 1 of the options (though currently not spelled right…), but is languishing somewhat in the face of stiff competition from AOK and Homeworld.

So, head over there and set the record straight :).

A word from Ironrod
March 13, 2000 4:22 PM EST

Impressions Ironrod paid the forums a visit today. For all of you that are currently stuck in Iunet, there’s not much good news.

Our QA department is looking at the problem with Iunet and evaluating possible remedies.
Meanwhile, we recommend that you either play the alternate city of On, or use the Pharaohs Tomb cheat to skip to the next mission.
We apologize for disrupting your campaigns.

You can read more about the problem here.

The Scenario forum has some interesting information on linking events.
It will take more than just a pretty map to make a good scenario.

Over on Caesar 3 Heaven a giggle could be heard as Marcus Linducus was (hand) picked to become a cherub on the Tiber side of games.

Angel Jayhawk

The Games can begin?
March 12, 2000 12:07 PM EST

Remebr that two events for the Pharaoh Contest are up in the Contest forum.
The current offerings are:

Serabit Khadim – Small desert map, some walls on the map, more walls can’t be built. One pack of hyenas to the side of the map. No towers. Frequent attacks (including Bedouin sneak attacks) and requests (copper, gems, luxury goods).
Plenty of trade routes, all land. Very limited resources : Ostriches for food, copper, gems.
To be played at Hard.
Men-Aten – Pharaoh has ordered you to build him a summer Palace near quiet and peaceful Kyrene. This area near Libya on the Mediterranean is rich in natural resources and he will require samples of local products during construction. Pharaoh has chosen a beautiful island named Men-aten for his Palatial Estate. There is no deadline, but you know Pharaoh is not a patient ruler and is quite anxious to move to his new residence.
A custom mission that can be played either on Hard or on Normal.

More on custom missions in general can be found in the Scenario forum.

Then, hold down CTRL+ALT+c to bring up the cheat dialog box. Type in Meow and Bast will throw a festival in honor of all the gods. Type in Cat Fight and some of your best houses will be destroyed – how CATastrophic!

In case you didn’t realise, that was yanked from, and is your weekly dose of cheats.

Earthquakes and the Mission Editor
March 10, 2000 3:40 PM EST

An interesting post was made here in the official forum by Nixon, concerning why earthquakes aren’t available in the mission editor:

The mission editor has all of the elements that comprise Pharaoh. There aren’t any earthquakes in Pharaoh so there isn’t an option for it in the editor. The same applies to whirlwinds and such. Yes, I know that one of the custom missions has an earthquake but that one was created with an early version of the editor that still allowed for earthquakes. Had it been one of the official campaign maps we would have taken it out but we adopted a much looser attitude for the custom missions, wanting them to just be fun.

So now you know ;).

The End of an Era
March 10, 2000 3:33 PM EST

With a pain in my heart and a tear in my eye I’m actually lost for words. Almost 14 months ago, this little post appeard on the Caesar 3 News

The winds of change have also blown in the staff department, with the appointment of another Cherub. All welcome Cherub mouse to the site! She’ll be ferreting in the forums and, with any luck, be doing some scenario reviews too. I’m sure that she’ll be a valuable addition to the team.

Well, those winds have started blowing again.

Cherub mouse has handed in her stubby little wings.

No longer will she be seen fluttering about the Caesar and Pharaoh forums.

No longer will her light voice be heard in the magnificent and epic stories that have been born on these site.

No longer will we have her cheerful presence welcoming those new to the sites.

Another victim of Real Life™.

At least three generations of Caesar 3 players and one of Pharaoh have had mouse greet them when they joined this wonderful bunch of people. It’s a sad day in Heaven and I don’t really think there’s an angel out here that isn’t in need of handkerchief.

I’ll be opening a special thread in the Senet House, while Angel Gustavia will open one in the Caesar 3 forum.
Please, please, please visit and tell her how she will be missed.

Normal players can play too
March 9, 2000 5:02 PM EST

No, this does not imply that there are ab-normal players out there, actually this thread was started as a reply to the few competitions we’ve had so far, where the defaullt difficulty was assumed ot be hard. Homegrown makes a plea for a contest meant for those of us that prefer to play at Normal difficulty.

His fashionable twentieth century suit and tie had disappeared. In it’s place the comfortable linnen kilt, pectoral and bracelets had appeared. The big black wings stretched out behind him. He stretched like a cat and smiled. His eyes glowed golden.
“Change, ” he whispered.
His cherub friend looked at him, her dark eyes focused on her friend and changed into her cherub robes.

Cleopatra Interview!
March 6, 2000 3:43 PM EST

Here’s a bit of a Monday treat for you all – I’ve just posted the interview I did with the Marketing Weasel and Breakaway Games about Cleopatra, the offical Pharaoh expansion pack. Here’s a snippet:

ARR: Why was it decided to outsource it to another developer rather than keep it directly under Impressions’s own control?

Alex: As you know, Impressions Games is a small developer, with bandwidth for only a few products at a time. We didn’t want to delay our other projects to do the Pharaoh expansion, but we didn’t want to delay getting Cleopatra out to the public. We chose to outsource the development to Breakaway Games because they were of a like mind as to the direction the expansion pack needed to go. With their recent experience on Sid Meier’s Antietam! we knew the quality of their work would be in line with our rigorous expectations for the City Building series. We have been working very closely on this project, and it’s been a rewarding experience. Their fresh perspective on the subject and our experience combine to create an expansion pack that will delight any Pharaoh owner.

Price drops, some with rebates, are evident on 5 great Sierra titles: PHARAOH; HOMEWORLD; HALF-LIFE: GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION; SWAT 3: CLOSE QUARTERS BATTLES; NASCAR RACING 3.

CompUSA is running these this week for $19.99, after two $10.00 rebates (mfr. and theirs) – Cost at the counter is still $39.99.

Expansion Pack Issues
March 6, 2000 11:08 AM EST

Some people have been having problems with installing the Expansion Pack – here’s Impressions’s response, conveyed in this post by buddytep and Nuthinenkamhen:

The Enhancement Pack will not find Pharaoh.exe if it has been moved from its original location, modified by hacks/cracks/virii/or other third party programs, or previously patched with any of the Enhancement Packs (unlikely at this point being that it just came out). If all else fails, a simple uninstallation and reinstallation will do the trick. Don’t worry, your games will be saved (unless you manually delete the folder).

Regarding the mission editor:

The expansion pack installs a file called “mission editor guide.txt.” Also, there is an editor FAQ on this site at:

Please make sure you read through both of these these before posting here. Not only will they answer most of your questions, they will also help you get the most out of the mission editor. Thank you.

Update by ARR: You can read the latest list of issues here. If you’re having problems, read that post before asking what’s wrong.

Nineteentwenties, anyone?
March 5, 2000 5:24 PM EST

As promised, Civis Romanus started the new Pharaoh Epic: The Search for the Scarab Ring.
Will the evil priest Imhotep get his revenge on Akhensenamen?
What are Civis and Jayhawk doing in the 20th Century?
How’s Howard Carter anyway?
Stay tuned.

The release of the scenario editor has created some new attempts at determining the Monument formula. Have a peek in this thread.

Cherub Gustavia has lend a helping hand in the Test forum, by listing a few sites that offer basic HTML Help. I have only one thing to add: Close your tags!

P-toons are here!
March 5, 2000 4:59 PM EST

Over on Caesar III Heaven, we used to have a little section called C-toons, which depicted funny things which happened in C3, or screenshots which were doctored to make them resemble a cartoon or something.

Well, I’ve just added out first P-toon to our new P-toon section. If you’ve got something amusing or bizarre, then you’ll find submission instructions on that page.

Site Upgrades
March 5, 2000 6:37 AM EST

Just a quick newsflash about some changes that are going to be happening around here over the next few days.

As you can see, the main page has now been given an overhaul so it loads faster (and also looks better, IMO). A sitemap will also be appearing just underneath the logo soon (it will be hideable though – take a look at Age of Kings Heaven for an example of what it’ll be like.

For now, only this page will receive the treatment. It might take a little while before all our pages sport the new look. Massive thanks to Angel Zen for taking the time to do this. Please feel free to drop him a line and thank him ;).

Playing with the Scenario Editor.
March 4, 2000 12:23 PM EST

There a whole bunch of thread sprung up overnight in the Scenario forum. The topics range from trouble people are experiencing with the editor, to ideas and even a new scenario courtesy of Keith Heithmann.
There’s even some posts from the chaps at Impressions themselves.

Localised versions of EP
March 4, 2000 3:14 AM EST

Over on the official enhancement pack page, they’re now offering the 2 versions that were left out first thing yesterday – the Swedish and Italian ones.

Might be just as well to grab them now, while the US is asleep ;).

A fistful of forums
March 3, 2000 5:45 PM EST

As you may have seen a small storm blew through Pharaoh Heaven and uncovered several new forums. Not only that, but it also moved a few threads. Most importantly, Cherub Baltic’s threads about the latest contest have found a new home in the…correct…the Contest Forum.
The preliminary discussions about a possible Pharaoh Olympics have also moved here.

With the Enhancement pack ready for download and the Expansion pack coming up I expect the site is going to be even more lively than it is now. I admit I’m already looking forward to some of the scenarios I hope will be submitted by some of the Caesar 3 scenario wizards, like Bob the Letharghic.

I guess you might say I’m excited.

Cleopatra’s Press Release
March 3, 2000 12:32 PM EST

I just received a press release detailing what to expact from Cleopatra, the Pharaoh Expansion pack. Here’s a smippet:

March 3, 2000: Sierra and Impressions Games today announce the release of Pharaoh Official Expansion: Cleopatra, which will be available on PC CD-ROM in July 2000.

Developed for Impressions Games by Breakaway Games (who most recently developed Sid Meier’s Antietam!), Cleopatra will contain four new campaigns for the award-winning strategic city-building game Pharaoh, allowing gamers to experience the final years of ancient Egyptian history through 15 totally new scenarios.

So, we can expect this in July (or not, as the case may be ;)). Click here for the full press release (UK version).

Win2k and Enhancement Pack
March 3, 2000 9:34 AM EST

Just another quick note about the expansion pack that was released earlier today.

If you’ve been having problems with sound under Win2k, then the enhancement pack will rectify this. Here’s the thread in which that piece of news is delivered.

More Mission Editor News
March 3, 2000 8:20 AM EST

More news about the Enhancement Pack comes from Itchy in this forum thread. Good news for those who have the Swedish and Italian versions too:

I’ll check into it and see what kind of answers I can dig up. In the meantime, hope you guys enjoy the map editor (as well as the fact that it’s localized for the foreign language versions – none of the 3 month delay like in C3.

BTW, we’re just waiting on final approval on the Swedish and Itlian versions of the enhancement and *should* have them available to post today (3/3).

New Forums!
March 3, 2000 5:33 AM EST

Wow, talk about a busy day in Heaven ;).

Anyway, I’ve added a couple of forums to our existing selection. First off, we have the Scenario and Map Editing Forum, the place to go to ask questions about the newly released mission editor (see story below).

We also have a Competition Corner, where you can float ideas about any contests you might want to run using the aforementioned mission editor.

There will be no Reviewer’s Corner, as we have in C3H. This is because the scenarios page in the download section will allow you to place comments about scenarios there.

Momma’s Got a Brand New Cloud
March 2, 2000 10:22 AM EST

Well, perhaps not Momma, but I certainly do :).

My old cloud was looking rather sorry for itself (just take a look if you don’t believe me), so I decided to give it a complete overhaul, and get a bit of practise with Macromedia’s Dreamweaver 3 in the process.

You can see the new cloud (for those of you who don’t know, a “cloud” is a personal site belonging to an HGS Angel – some of us have them, others don’t) here. It’s still sort of under construction, and I’ll add a few more things I’ve been thinking about at some point this weekend (depending on whether the copy of PSP6.0 which I ordered yesterday arrives before then).

March 1, 2000 4:54 PM EST

Let me start by adding my voice to the welcoming chorus for Cherub SenetEr. May he be with us for a loooooong time. You can congratulate him here.

The story “In the Court of Tut-Ankh-Amun” has come to an end. The king is dead and buried. The angel, Civis, Incontinetia and their friends have returned to the Age of the Pax Romana.
But don’t worry, another story is about to be born.
A different story…
A story with…a twist or two.
Just keep your eyes on the Senet House.

Welcome to a new Cherub!
March 1, 2000 10:30 AM EST

Today, I’m pleased to announce that another person has joined the team here on Pharaoh Heaven. Would everyone please give a warm welcome to Cherub SenetEr.

He’ll be seen helping out in the forums from now on. Welcome!

Pharaoh Review Heaven
March 1, 2000 8:47 AM EST

Perhaps we should think about changing the name of this site to “Review Heaven”. Why? Well, we seem to pick up pretty much any review out there. Today I have the pleasure of bringing this one to you, courtesy of 3DRage. It continues in the generally positive path set by other reviews. 9/10 is the verdict, and here’s why:

Pharaoh is one of the best city-building strategy games that I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. I had trouble pulling myself away from the game just to write this review. It is probably one of the most addicting game that I’ve played in quite some time. You feel a sense of accomplishment when you coplete a level victoriously, and that’s something that most games can’t offer you. Impressions Games also did their homework in Egyptian history, as almost everything from the crops they grew, the flooding of the Nile, and the monuments they constructed are accurately implemented into Pharaoh. The only faults that I see with the game are that it closely resembles some of the gameplay from the Caesar Trilogy, but when can that be portrayed as a bad thing. With its addictive and innovative gameplay, brilliant graphics, and wonderful sound, Pharaoh is a game that should be on every gamer’s hard drive.

Well deserved congrats to the Impressions crew! As always, this review has been added to our reviews page.
