Pharaoh Heaven News Archives
Grayhawk posted a thread on the 'fairness' of (ab)using the game mechanics and has received some lengthy replies. You can read about it here. There's another "Talk to the animals" thread and the number crunchers have devised an alternative way to keep score. Julia Seth is taking students for such divers classes as Imperious Shouting 101 and You can best the Oracle. You can sign up here. Wendoolicus' Quiz
is still going strong, and if you thought you were too late to join...you're wrong. Wen
has even added a new section to the quiz that can only be answered by people that haven't
got many points. Last but not least the Introduction thread has resurfaced. If you haven't told us about you, here's your chance.
So what is the Game Help forum all about, you may ask? Here's a small subset of the current topics. x9Hawk is asking for some feedback on his housing block, a revival of the Hyenas vs. Saqqara cartpusher game, North Dashur is receiving it's share of questions and is nominated as second competitive level, and there's some interesting observations on the security walkers. I'll be giving you an update on what is happening in the Senet House tomorrow.
If you want to bum-rush your pals with an army of spear-throwing troops, Pharaoh is most definitely not your game -- it doesn't even offer multiplayer. However, if you're interested in a single-player cerebral challenge, Pharaoh is among the best strategy games you can slap on your hard drive.
Anyway, there's a new map (sort of) available for download. It's an update of the Toshka Custom Mission, and can be picked up here. Also, there's a bit of a rumour on the official forum that there might be some kind of an update on 15th December. As always, stay tuned to this channel for all the latest news on that.
If this update seems a bit rambling\rubbish\badly written (delete as appropriate), then it's because I'm absolutely shattered. Still, here's a quick roundup of the latest forum action. The pondering continues as to whether it's better to have 2x2 buildings rather than 1x1s. It seems that the former are less likely to devolve than the latter, but you can have your say here. We also have another informal contest proposal from Cherub Dragon2. If you think you can build a pyramid faster than anyone else, then this is the thread for you.
So, what's next for our very own Danish pastry, Angel Hamlet (couldn't think of anything else danish there...)? Well, we'll all have to hold our breath and wait. If my updating's a bit sporadic this weekend, it's because my parents are over here in Germany (as of tomorrow morning). Updates might be a bit later than normal. However, I'll do my best :).
Please keep in mind that everything Alex said fell into the realm of "maybe" - nothing is definite and things always change, esp. in this business. Does anyone remember that Caesar3 originally began as a city-builder in space? This confirms noises I've been getting from other people at Impressions, including the Marketing Weasel himself. They've noted the reaction to the announcement that it might not be up for download, and I'm sure they'll bear it in mind when they make their decision. While I was browsing the official forum last night, I came across the following statement from Nixon, and posted in here in the Game Help forum: Well, if a fire has been burning
for a long enough time (due to a Fire Marshal being too far to reach it in time) then the
fire will not be put out and will just have to burn out on its own. If you right-click on
a burning building under these conditions it should reveal a pop-up message saying:
"Fire marshals could not get here in time to save the building. When the fires burn
themselves out, only rubble will be left on this site." The boys in blue (or red, depending on what forum you read) were really busy yesterday - there was also a post by Ironrod detailing how you load those pesky transport ships. |
