SUMUR is an intermediary game at VHard, between an easy one and the unfeasible Qadesh. Game starts in January 1300.

The requirements are :
1. One small obelisk, so 100 granite which can be imported since the beginning at the rate of 25 a year
2. A population of 3,000 with a Kingdom rating of 90, a Prosperity of 40 and a Culture rating of 35.

So one proper housing residence block will make it altogether with some workers scattered here and there. The culture rating is easily reached, a prosperity of 40 can be made through taxes or through weapons/copper, linen, luxuries and wood exports. The kingdom rating is made at the rate of 11 points a year using the mansion.

So where is the problem ?
Quoting Donduk : « how could you make it against the Hittites ? I have always been defeated ».
Right, an army is attacking you following a request for 20 weapons. I delayed, but think I would have been attacked nonetheless. These Hittites come from the North, closeby the copper mines.
Similarity with Qadesh is that you are not allowed towers. The experience of Migdol shows that it is extremely hard, if possible, to defeat Hittite chariots at VHard even with 6 experienced chariot companies alone. And, in Migdol, only some chariots attack. Here, I counted up to 16.
So, however less numerous than in Qadesh, it seems the fight is unwinnable.

BUT, in SUMUR, there is a TRICK.

I made a rough run of 10 year. I got overindebted, mismanaged my resources, but nonetheless had a KR of 57, so 90 is near. The population was 2800 in a poor block, so 3000 needs some minutes and a row of more mud huts. The enemy attacks after 9-10 years, in my case July 1292, so you do not need to rush so fast to build up your 6 chariot companies. The academy is even not so useful, as your troops will not engage in real fighting. A prosperity of 40 is at reach.
Remains to get ready.

When the enemy attacks, he attacks the troops, not any buildings, what makes a big difference as he does not roam around rampaging. I lost only one copper mine. If the chariot companies are ready, they charge the Hittite infantry they eradicate, this as to make their morale drop. Then your chariots withdraw a bit South in defense. The Hittite chariots deploy and attack the numerous policemen around. They are also attracted by your defense line. Then, your chariots withdraw on the Eastern bank, WHERE ALL YOUR FORTS ARE SET. They stay close to the river, firing at the nearby Hittites who get stuck like sitting ducks, as YOU HAVE DESTROYED ALL BRIDGES.
After 6 months, the enemy withdraws.
Meanwhile, you have lost points in prosperity as you could not export anything, except what you managed to stockpile on the Eastern bank to be picked by the caravans.
