Once again a “Get as many of the best housing you can in a forever running city”.
Heh is a very nice one for data achievers at V.Hard as there are some challenges :
-fights: alternatively, there are easy to handle or very tough.
-Imports: Men-Nefer and Itjtawy both sell papyrus and pottery, but I wanted the maximum delivery of linen and meat from Itjtawy. I had to micro-manage the trade constantly, or to restrict my city to stately manors. Ptah is not in town so you cannot get extra linen or pottery through blessings.
-Bast is not in town, what however pleasant falsifies the game, but I have the Osiris Temple Complex which, it seems, reduces a lot the quantity of food eaten by inhabitants, in my case the 16 Palatial Estates eating meat as their third type of food.
-Blocks are interesting to set, both industrial and housing ones.
-A Culture Rating of 50 is a bit boring in a large city but still very reasonable.
I told people here I had got funny pavilions throughout the games. In Itjtawy, I had two U pavilions. Check out this Northern one!
I kind of reach the limit with 16 full and stable PE, one-two could be added as it is but not more. I have saved enough linen to deliver it to the last block, but I was not anymore interested so close to the end of the game as it would have meant more pavilions, bandstands, etc.
I improved Cartouche Bee’s PE block (available in any of my downloads), by extending it one tile in length (I had seen in Thinis and Khmun that a slightly larger block remained perfectly stable). It is enough to set an extra PE and I even used the 2X2 lost space to set first a third bazaar that allowed a more sustainable growth of the block. Then I removed the bazaar as I needed one tile to set a second fire worker. In the case of the presence of Bast (Hetep for example), after several major blessings, a seventeenth PE can be set erasing one bazaar, but there is a serious bet on fire as there is no room for a second fire worker but I think the PE can be arranged differently and one tile may be earned.
I should have set all industries closer to the docks. I could have exported much more without bothering much the deliveries (my gems SY remained full for ten years). I noticed late, but I could also have set the docks in the extreme North of the map, where I have two warships, the industrial block would have been where the mausoleum is. I could have got more linen and meat throughout the year, no more barley as I get it all anyway. Another small PE block? Some 6-8 PE only, maybe, a stately manors block for sure, ignoring to deliver any linen to the workers block to feel secure.
I had first set my city palace in another place that allowed some more gold per year to be delivered, but I was more happy with this organisation of the city.
I do not open the route to Pwenet, which is useless. Someone wondered why some ships dock, some wait for months waiting for another ship to come first, or then come back waiting. This has preoccupied me since then! It can be useful if I set a third dock (there is a room on the Eastern bank in Heh) and open the road to Pwenet: as the imports are set at 0, the two ships from Pwenet come, dock and move away immediately, generating a higher rotation on the docks and fastening the deliveries. In fact, I was helped by Baki and another city that do not deliver or buy anything after a while.
I decide now never to fence the hyenas (however I would not handle a Dunqul in these conditions). I had managed to get rid of both hyena flocks using policemen only, in my first two tries. On this one, I got one but needed to call the archers for the second one. I use now a trick I developed in Sawu. I set the policemen not where the hyenas attack but close to their breeding ground. They love attacking policemen more than immigrants; They also have a keen taste for the fire worker and the physician who protects them. It is little costly and makes them occupied continuously.
Of course, as usual, I cheated with the nature of the blessings: I rejected the Ra KR blessings for the trade ones: my KR was still at 22 after some ten years. Once again, the Seth major blessings did not convert into any Spirit of Seth. I lost many soldiers as the ground Nubians troops are tough, however their ships are very weak.
Worth another try. It also makes me tempted to have another try on a faster and bigger “100 Palatial Estates in Hetep”, which is here considered as one critical Pharaoh achievement but we made in fact when I was just joining this forum, pretty unaware of several characteristics of the game I handle well now.
Pop 8272 (16 full palatial estates, my main aim)
Score 64573 (293 months)
