50 Culture
50 Prosperity
49 Monument - L Obelisk, L/M Pyramid, Burial goods
100 Kingdom
25k Population - 20 Palatial Estates
Time limit: 720 Months
Playability: 5
No issues attaining win conditions
Balance: 4
Initial funds are high enough to establish housing blocks and exports. Wars do not come until later years so you are given ample time to build charioteers. As a result, wars are rather easy, just make sure to have 2 charioteers on each section of land, as invasions occur on all 3. Monuments are progressed through mining or imports if need be, and burial good amounts are reasonable. Funding overall is not an issue, as wood and chariots can be sold with high tax income later on when manors are built. Hunting proves an issue with sustaining such a large population, is only reliable for maybe two housing blocks (used only for Palatial Estates). Luckily, copious fishing wharfs and farms can be build to sustain such a large city. Overall, a difficult mission due to such a large population to achieve within the time limit. I was able to finish with about 200 months to spare. Having more difficult wars and access to less resources, relying on imports more, would have made the mission more difficult to earn a 5.
Creativity: 2
Requests have no consequence or rewards for fulfilling them. You can simply ignore them if you like. They are somewhat varied and consistent throughout the mission. Wars come from many spawn points, land or sea.
Map Design: 3
Although the map has more blocky features, resource location was made with mission requirements in mind. The three areas of the map force thought into the organization of such a large city. Hunters tend to cross the map to the other bird spawn point for some reason, so farming is much more reliable. Overall, a reasonable map for the win conditions, but nothing special about it.
Story/Instructions: 2
Some instruction is provided but is inaccurate in some aspects. No story or purpose for playing was given.
Additional Comments:
Since I have never played a mission with such a high population and Palatial Estate requirement (most I've done is 15k and 6 PE), I decided to play the mission on Very Easy. Thus, my review must be taken with a large grain of salt if you play on another over normal difficulty. I did switch my settings to Normal before winning to see if I still met the housing requirements and I in fact did. I'm glad I was able to accomplish this mission but won't be playing it again. If you want such a large population, play a sandbox map!
