I'm on my journey to relief and refine the family history, and now I came across the task of building the capital - Itjtawy. With the experience on designing Alexandria, I say, why not we push Itjtawy to its limits?

My objectives are simple -
1. Difficulty : Hard
2. Population target : 20000+
3. Max out the upgrade of noble manors and worker residences
4. Up to 99% population should get all basic services (except library and senet) and up to 3 Gods
5. People should love me (eventually)

So, thanks to reference from Brugle's and Makhouyankhamon's Itjtawy design, I started my own capital building project.

Basically I follow Brugle's ground plan, with grain on both banks, lettuce and meat on west bank, and pomegranate on east bank, and each bank feed on respective food on their side. (I tried hard to not let farm cart pushers cross the river, which always clog up the ferry piers).

Similarly for industrial planning, flax/linen and straw/brick on west bank, reed/papyrus on east bank. Some potters locate on both banks, and for barley/beer I put it at the southern island together with the dock.

Finally, after 70 years of development, my Itjtawy swell into a big, "metastable" city

- Final population : 26000+/-500
- Noble population : Total 56 manors, mostly stately manors, housing ~30% of the population.
- Worker population : Mostly fancy residences in 9 housing blocks, housing ~70% of the population
- Unemployment rate : -2% ~ +3% (labour shortage would be buffered by military posts)
- Economy : Taxing at 15%. Only selling bricks and buying every other goods. People idolize me as god because I pay them 90db/month. With all that I can still make 60k~80k/year, and the treasury overflows with 5 million db.
- Military : A full cohort of 4 infantry and 2 archer companies. A small navy with 3 warships and 3 transports. Completely walled city.

(Note : There are several staffed but unconnected performance stages, which are mainly placed for fulfilling the mission objective of cultural score. By deleting them there should be no underemployment problems, and the city would just run fine. You may also add a few towers at the gates with that extra manpower.)

Sounds nice isn't it?

However the reason of being "metastable" was mainly about the logistics in such a spread-out city.

- The east bank worker houses had a problem of getting enough linen supply. I actually can overcome the problem with some interventions:
1. Micromanagement - I can set to "stockpile" linen for first half of the year and release for the next half of the year. By doing this, all houses and mortuaries will be able to get a sufficient supply of linen, PLUS a positive increment of linen at stock.
2. Miracles - Occasionally throwing festival to Kitty God for a major blessing does help to relief the problem.
3. After all, fancy residence doesn't require mortuary... but no, a capital should be nice to its citizens.

- Schools and libraries may temporary go out of service with delayed papyrus delivery. Some stately manors may degrade to common manors for a while, but very soon they would evolve back when education service resumes.

- Unfortunately the city is not 100% fireproof or damage-proof, which does require some intervention at times.

I am sharing my Itjtawy design for download, and wish you would like it.

Thank you very much. @_@
