Serabit Khadim is almost a model of how I envision my cities, with its industries located outside and its habitations at the centre of the network, with said houses surrounded by services and embellishments.
Few modifications allowed for more efficiency and here we are, with 2,010 very pleased inhabitants. I wanted to put 4 copper and 4 gemstone mines instead of 3 and 3 as I suspected the Pharaoh would be needy... And he was... A LOT !!!
Also, Serabit Khadim was quite often under attack, and the first of them was unexpected so you have to create an army relatively early, even if it is just a handful of archers and some infantry.
After a few years, my outpost became quite a beautiful stronghold, able to provide Egypt with rare resources, manufactured luxuries and able to repel numerous attacks from Bedouines and Canaanites.
